The revived economics section of the German Association for East European Studies organized in mid October a workshop World Economy and Comparative Development in Eastern Europe in a beautiful district of Berlin. Surrounded by embassies and fancy villas the participants presented and dicussed papers on topics like trade, development, finance, agriculture, labor market concerning Central and Eastern European and Former Soviet Union countries.

Stan presented the paper (written jointly with Joanna and Lucas) on labor marekt flows during transition in Poland. Their research shows that changes in employment structure were driven by exit of elderly to retirement and entry of youngters whereas flows between jobs were rare.
