Ti amo Italia

Ti amo Italia

The annual AIEL conference took place in sunny Novara, famous for its delicious cuisine. The conference hosted three great keynote speakers. Maia Guell discussed her research on various models of school choice based on the example of schools in Barcelona. Tito Boeri presented his findings on the influence of collective bargaining agreements on wage differences between regions in Italy (North vs. South) and Germany (West vs. East). Andrea Weber focused on the meta analysis of the literature concerning the evaluation of active labor market programs.

We discussed our research on the determinants of labor market flow in Poland. We focus especially on flows from public to the private sector and from manufacturing to the service sector and try to close a gap in the literature as the studies on the determinants of labor market flows in Central and Eastern European countries cover only the period up to 2004. The data we use is a decade longer and allows as to show that the determinants of labor market flows are stable over time.
