Call for applications – part-time research assistant job offer for students

The University of Warsaw, Faculty of Economic Sciences is looking for candidates for a part-time (20 hours a week) research assistant in the project “Global production chain: value added and productivity of enterprises” financed by the National Science Center.

The ideal candidate would be a student (either MA or PhD course ) interested in the issues of international economics and international trade. The tasks of the assistant will consist of data management, data analysis and review of literature. Knowledge of English and strong quantitative/econometric skills are necessary. Required skills are:
• Data management and data analysis – Stata is preferred
• Knowledge of linear algebra (basic)
• Knowledge of National Accounts and/or input output tables will be a plus

We offer a friendly work environment among other young people involved in research project, moreover we offer a designated place to work in the building of the University of Warsaw central library furnished with a well-equipped computer, printers and all the office supplies. There are frequent seminars that give opportunity to learn and share in cosy yet motivating atmosphere. Last but not least there is access to a full-equipped kitchen and free yet wonderful coffee.

The assistant will also be able to use the project computer and the office for work not directly related to the project. The working hours are completely flexible and task-oriented. However, the assistant is required to meet with the project director on a regular basis.
The length of appointment can be between 3 months and 24 months. The preferred form of appointment is the contract for specified task (“umowa o dzieło”). The summary of the project is given below.

Inclusion of parts of the research performed by the assistant in his/her PhD/MA thesis is also possible. The assistant will have the access to the Amadeus database comprising firm-level data from all EU member states. The project output will consist of 2-3 journal articles, some of which may by co-authored by the assistant, depending on the work input.
