Annual forum of geeks crazy about studying pensions
There are all kinds of crazy countries around the world. In the Netherlands, for example, the government, the financial institutions and the academia cooperate to know more about longevity, aging, financial markets and public finance -- i.e. secure stability, justice and adequacy of the pension systems. For us, coming from Poland, it is quite an experience to observe informed debate among the stake holders and this debate fostering exceptional quality research around the country. Netspar, as a network coordinating all the stakeholders, organizes an annual International Pension Workshop, with excellent PhD students and senior scholar presentations. Public administration representatives are in the audience, and so are private financial institutions representatives. All together, at the frontier of research. A bit of a difference relative to home field of I-believe's and me-think's and always-been-like-this's.
We presented the paper on why funded pensions may be politically unstable, joint work with .... a Dutch coauthor.
