Very few conferences in the world attract such an intensity and number of really freaky crazy people as SOIE. Was there occupation and a pretty arbitrary border set up for completely crazy reasons? Too bad, but let's check if this beautifully exogenous variation can help us explain emergence of regional identity. Yes. How? Through local newspapers. Firms have some stupid reporting obligations? Great, let's apply machine learning and text mining techniques to see if proclivity to gender violence (reported elsewhere) is systematically related to how position of women is conveyed in those otherwise stupid reports.
